Knitted Fair Isle Gadget Cosy Pattern

A fun and trendy fairisle gadget cosy pattern using the beautiful yarns Felted Tweed (merino wool and alpaca) and Wool Cotton (merino wool and cotton). The pattern is available in two sizes for either small or medium sized gadgets.

Small   and   Large

Wool Cotton and Felted Tweed (small x1)  (large x1) 50g
A Wool Cotton Ship Shape 955

B Felted Tweed Ginger 154 (small x1)  (large x1) 50g

1 pair 3¼mm (no 9) (US 5) needles
3.25mm (no 10) (US D3) crochet hook
BUTTONS — 1 x Wooden Thick Rim
EXTRAS — piece of lining fabric 20cm x 30cm (8in x 12in).

24 sts and 32 rows to 10cm measured over patterned
st st using 3¾mm (US 5) needles.

ch = chain; ss = slip stitch.

Completed small cosy piece measures 13.5cm (5½in) wide x 20cm (8in) long.
Completed large cosy piece measures 16cm (6½in) wide x 25cm (9¾in) long.



Using 3¾mm (US 5) needles and yarn A cast on 33 [39] sts.
Beg and ending rows as indicated and repeating the 10 row patt rep, using the Fair Isle technique cont in patt from chart, which is worked entirely in st st beg with a K row, as folls:
Work from chart until 46 (62) rows have been worked, ending with RS facing for next row.
Place markers at each end of next row.
Keeping patt correct, dec 1 st at each end of next 15 (18) rows. 3 sts.
Cast off rem sts.

Using 3.25mm (US D3) crochet hook and yarn A ss into centre st of cast off edge.
Work in ch st for approx 6cm, ss into the same st as before and fasten off.

Trim backing fabric to fit knitted section, adding seam allowance along all edges.
Fold seam allowance to WS along all edges of backing fabric.
Lay backing fabric onto knitted piece with WS facing and sew backing fabric in place along sides.
Fold cast on edge to markers and join side seams using mattress stitch.
Sew button in place to match button loop.
