Home Sweet Home | Cross Stitch Design

Yet another one of our talented members of staff  have been busy cross stitching again and this one we just HAD to share. La Maison Rouge is a sampler that’s hard to resist – it has to be one of our absolute office favourites and Sheena has well and truly put her own stamp on it. Find out how she got on in her guest post…

I saw La Maison Rouge Sampler chart (pictured above) online, I instantly fell in love with the design and I saw an opportunity to try a completely different colour scheme. I wanted to demonstrate that you can change the colours and still make something nice. So I choose a Caron watercolours in a deep blue for the main part of the design, which is also slightly variated in colour so adds an additional dimension to the piece and used the recommended red for the details. I am really happy with how it turned out…

I choose some red buttons from our Just Another Button collection and then with the red, white and blue design it was crying out for some little union jack buttons from the same range to finish it off.

The project took approximately 8 hours to work up and I did it on 14 count aida as recommended.  I plan to hang this on bell pulls at home.
