If time is short this address book with a sweet cottage design on it is very quick to stitch. With the addition of some charming buttons it would make a delightful gift for someone moving into a new house.
25 high x 27 wide
4.5 x 5cm (1¾ x 2in)
You will need
• 14-count Rustico Aida 10 x 10cm (4 x 4in)
• DMC stranded cotton (floss) as listed in chart key
• Tapestry needle size 24–26
• Fabric-covered or paper-covered address book
• White flower button and bluebird button
• White card for backing
• Double-sided adhesive tape
1 Prepare your fabric for work and begin stitching in the centre of the fabric from the centre of the chart.
2 Stitch over one block of Aida using two strands of stranded cotton for the cross stitches and one strand for the backstitches. When all the stitching is complete cut out the motif two holes away from the stitching all the way around.
3 Sew on the little buttons, with the white flower in the top right corner and the bluebird in the bottom left corner.
4 Using double-sided tape back the Aida with white card and attach the cottage motif to the front of your address book.
