We’re so excited about the new book 50 Fat Quarter Makes (edited by yours truly!) Packed with sewing patterns projects all made from our favourite cuts of fabric, this book is bursting at the seams with inspiration and creativity. But who are the talented folks who have contributed patterns to the book? We catch up with the makers here…
Jo has been quilting for almost 25 years and started sewing when she was just 6! She has her own teaching studio and shop in Edinburgh and online. She also organises the annual Modern Quilt Retreat, the Stitch Gathering, with over 70 quilters in attendance.
Liz teaches patchwork and quilting workshops around Brighton and Hove and runs the online quilt shop Quilty Pleasures. She is the author of The Beginner’s Guide to Quilting and has recently be spotted demonstrating patchwork and quilting techniques on Craft Daily TV.
Ali works from her home in Staffordshire in the UK, where she is home schooling her twin sons. Sewing, crochet and baking are the main themes of her blog at Very Berry, but she also has a fledging business Very Berry Fabrics selling beautiful Liberty Tana Lawns.
Jessie has dabbled in sewing and patchwork all her life, but made her first quilt in 2011 and hasn’t stopped since! She runs her business Sew & Quilt on the side as she works a full time day job too, as well as doing up her home in Cornwall with beautiful DIY and vintage-style projects.
Lisa works full time as a graphic designer for Stitch Craft Create, so doesn’t have a lot of spare time, but when she does find a little time she loves making handmade items for babies and children, as she did for her own when they were growing up.
Louise is a sewing, gardening and wine drinking mother of two who is addicted to buying fabrics. Louise is also the former UK co-ordinator of Dress a Girl Around the World, and over three years working with the charity made and collected over 15,000 pillowcase dresses for girls in Africa.
Quilter, designer, and writer Kevin Kosbab, loves strong colors, bold graphics, and mid-century modern styles, which he incorporates into quilts and other home-decor sewing projects in US magazines like Stitch, where he’s a contributing editor.
Emily Levey is a sewing teacher and quilter based in Devon. A regular contributor to quilting magazines, she is also a demonstrator for Craft Daily TV and the star of numerous video workshops at Stitch Craft Create.
Canadian Kaye is a designer, stitcher, and maker of all things handmade and crafty. She holds a Master of Information degree and works as a Librarian for an international media company. She teaches workshops and classes and sells her patterns via her Etsy store.
Freelance designer and illustrator, Prudence’s life-long love of making things led to the creation of her first book The Unnofficial Lego Jewellery Book. Her second book Craft it with Hama Beads was published in 2014. She has appeared on Craft Daily TV and also designed the show’s distinctive set.
Cynthia learned how to oil paint at age 7. Then came sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, rubber stamping, and mixed-media. She is now a regular contributor to the craft press and lives in California with her husband, sons and dogs.
