The Dove House range of fabrics from Lewis & Irene is inspired by a beautiful house set in a peaceful place in the depths of the countryside where you can hear nothing but birdsong and the breeze.
As with every range of Lewis and Irene fabric, there is a story behind it. Dove House is all about a home full of love and laughter shared with family and friends. Although the range is part of the autumn/ winter range, it has quite a spring feel about it. I particularly love the chalk effect on the hearts, it’s quite rustic. Which gives that extra special feeling of being in a cottage or farmhouse.
The range is full of lush pastels and chalky colours that remind you of that shabby chic look without being overly floral. The scenes created in the design evoke memories of countryside getaways and long walks just as the flowers are starting to bloom.
I really love the detail of the trees in the Love Tree fabric below. With a green heart shaped background and small white heart shapes to create the leaves, it is so simplistic but gives a great effect. The Dove House fabric below, makes me want to go skipping in meadows in the countryside!
So what would you make with this gorgeous fabric? Lewis & irene have released a free pattern, as they do with all their ranges, and it is just lovely. The 56″ x 56″ quilt comes in three different styles, with each highlighting a particular colourway.
You could also make an incredibly sweet dress or t-shirt for a little girl using the pattern from the Frida Dress by The Eternal Maker. This is a dress pattern but can be adapted to make a t-shirt too. You could also make a drawstring bag like the one made by @sew_sam below with our FREE pattern.
