For many spring cleaning chores, you can make your own cleaning products using the formulas listed below:
Before you start, make sure you have a good stock of basic spray bottles — you don’t need to buy new bottles, just save the bottles from your existing cleaners and wash them out.

Basic cleaning fluid
500ml (18fl oz) water
½ teaspoon Borax
¼ teaspoon liquid soap
36 drops essential oil

Carpet cleaner
125g (4½oz) baking soda
1 teaspoon liquid soap
18 drops essential oil

Furniture polish
3 tablespoons vinegar
½ teaspoon jojoba oil
10 drops lemon essential oil

Gentle scouring cream
60g (6¾oz) baking soda
Liquid soap
18 drops essential oil
Add the essential oils to the baking soda and blend. Next, incorporate the liquid soap, several drops at a time, until a creamy paste forms.

Window cleaner
500ml (18fl oz) water
3 tablespoons vinegar
¼ teaspoon liquid soap
36 drops essential oil

  1. Hi. I use baking soda to soak my pans, clean the bathroom and on my cooker top I just spray with water, sprinkle the baking soda on, leave to work for a few minutes and then the stains simply wipe off. Fab! Haven’t bought kitchen spray cleaner for ages. I also make my own cleaning wipes.
