You may have heard us squealing with joy this week as it’s Kaffe Fassett’s 50th anniversary in the textile industry. Today we’re getting all inspired and showing you our favourite projects for Kaffe Fassett fabric…
Kaffe Fassett prints make you think of colour, boldness and beauty – but what should you make with them? We’ve been having a look all over the web and also in our Kaffe Fassett fabric share board (where some of you have been kind enough to share your own makes) and picked out the sewing and quilting projects which will best showcase those gorgeous Kaffe Fassett prints.
Top projects for Kaffe Fassett fabric:
Reversible Summery Fabric Scarf
This sweet scarf uses six fat quarters of Kaffe Fassett fabric – three dark and three light – and the end result is a gorgeous reversible scarf you can wear all year round. You can find the scarf making kit here.
‘The House that Kaffe Built’ quilt
Thiscourtesy of McCalls Quilting has an utterly adorable design, with each little house providing a pop of crayon-like colour.
This would be a great project to try if you’ve got a heap of precious Kaffe Fassett fabric scraps to use up.
Fabric Dresser Drawers
I spotted this inspired idea on the Dyeing To Be Yours blog and instantly fell in love. For this dresser, each drawer has been decorated with a different Kaffe Fassett fabric – but you could always use the same print if you’re going for a more uniform look.
How about applying the fabric to the inside of a wardrobe, or to a tabletop? The possibilities are endless…
Our free juggling balls pattern uses only a tiny amount of Kaffe Fassett fabric, and would make a fabulously quirky gift.
Jewel Frames Quilt
This is a really versatile, scrappy quilt – cut more squares from your favourites, and fewer from the others. Don’t be afraid to pick contrasting prints. As you can see in the picture to the right, mixing and matching bright colours can produce some really beautiful results.
Curvy Shoulder Bag
All you need is two half yards of your favourite Kaffe Fassett fabrics to make this curvaceous shoulder bag. You can find the free pattern on the Pattern Pile website.
Red Brick Quilt
This quilt kit by The Kaffe Fassett Quilt Collective is easy enough for beginners and absolutely stunning, showing the beautiful harmonies of the Spring 2015 fabrics. Find the quilt kit here.
I hope you enjoy testing out these projects with your favourite Kaffe Fassett prints!
