We are very excited to announce the launch of Craft Sanctuary, a luxury stitching retreat for needlework enthusiasts! Taking place between 18-20th April 2016, and focusing on cross stitch and embroidery, this two day residential will consist of a selection of creative workshops in the beautiful Cotswolds location of Hawkwood College – this is one stitching getaway you won’t want to miss!
The Workshops: Day One
Learn how to create beautiful embroidery jewellery with Ame, the daughter of legendary cross stitch designer Jo Verso, who throughout the 1980s and 90s sold over three-quarters of a million cross stitch books. Ame learned to stitch at the age of 10, even stitching some of the pieces in her mother’s books, and every milestone of her life has been recorded in cross stitch. Ame is editor-in-chief of the SewandSo blog, and face of the YouTube channel SewandSoTV.
In this creative workshop you’ll be given access to gorgeous mini embroidery hoops in which to mount whatever stitching you like. These can then be turned into necklaces or brooches so you can wear your stitching in style. Materials will be supplied along with cross stitch and embroidery designs to inspire you – or you can go wild and freestyle!
In this relaxed after dinner demonstration, you’ll learn how you can use a computer and cross stitch design software to create your own cross stitch patterns at home. In an accessible and jargon-free manner, we’ll talk you through the main features and functions of SewandSo’s Cross Stitch Designer software, revealing the how endless the possibilities are when you start to make your own patterns. The demonstration will end with a question and answer session and a chance to try the software for yourself!
