As summer approaches and holidays are in within touching distance I wanted to share a lovely little sun and beach hut cross stitch chart from the nautically fabulous book, Sand Sea & Cross Stitch by Anna Field.
This lovely little chart is part of the S is for… range in Sand, Sea & Cross Stitch. It features a bright yellow sun, a fish, leaping into the air out of the waves and a beach hut on the sand. That sounds like a great British summer trip to the seaside to me. Perfect.
To complete this chart you will need:
- 8 x 8cm (3. x 3.in) piece of 30-count white linen
- 1 card folded in half and 1 envelope
- DMC stranded cotton (floss):
- 3831, 823, 518, 519, 3821, 3822, 160, plus white
Cross stitch the design in the centre of the white linen using two strands of thread over two threads of linen. Cut a 6.5cm (2.in) square from the centre of the card.
Stick the cross-stitch piece inside, being careful to centre it within the cut-out square. Stick the two halves of the card together with a few dabs of glue. You could also frame it and stitch the other S is for… charts from the book and create a nautical wall like the image below from the book.
This pattern has been excerpted from Sand, Sea & Cross Stitch by Anna Field. It Features over 50 cross stitch patterns, accompanied by practical full-colour charts. Projects vary from classic samplers, pictures and alphabet designs to bags, cushions, hanging signs, pencil cases and notebook covers. It also includes popular seaside motifs, such as flags, boats, beach huts, lighthouses, shells and fish. Many of the projects also feature fun phrases and alphabets.
