This week in at SewandSo HQ we are buzzing, because our wonderful designer, Anna, has welcomed her brand new baby daughter into the world.
Of course, we have stitched a new baby cross stitch card for her and are looking forward to Anna visiting us so we can have lots of baby cuddles!
This fun card has been designed for a baby girl but you could change the blanket colour to blue for a boy if desired. A stitched tag contains the baby’s name and date of birth.
Stitch count 37h x 46w (for main design)
Design size 6.7 x 8.3cm (2. x 3.in)
You will need
- 16 x 16cm (6. x 6.in) 14-count pale blue
- Aida (DMC 800)
- 7 x 6cm (2. x 23/8 in)14-count white Aida for tag
- Size 26 tapestry needle
- DMC threads: 168, 318, 742, 744, 948, 963, 3354, 3731, 3838, B5200, 150, 413, 414
For the stitching, use two strands for full and three-quarter cross stitch and one strand for back stitch.
Stitch the tag using the alphabet and numbers below and add a double border in pink cross stitch.
To finish, trim the fabric with pinking shears. Cover the bottom half of a lemon single-fold card with patterned paper and stick the fabric patch on top using double-sided tape. Cut a tag shape from striped paper and attach the stitched name and date and a ribbon bow. Place baby stickers.
